How to Start
Your Club
Registering with USA Field Hockey is a straightforward process. Here's what to expect from first contact to fully active club status.
Identify the type of club you're forming — youth, adult, competitive travel, recreational, or league — and decide on your organizational structure (nonprofit, LLC, informal association). Review USA Field Hockey guidelines for your club category to understand requirements and benefits before applying.
⏱ Before You RegisterVisit usafieldhockey.com and create a primary administrator account for your club. This account will serve as your club's identity with USA Field Hockey for registrations, event entries, membership management, and communications.
🔗 usafieldhockey.com/registerComplete the Club Registration form with your club name, primary contact, address, and club type. Within the USA Field Hockey member management system, click Start A Club and Designate a Club Administrator. Pay the annual club registration fee.
✅ Required AnnuallyAll coaches, administrators, and adult volunteers must complete the U.S. Center for SafeSport training. This is mandatory for all USA Field Hockey-registered clubs and is non-negotiable for the protection of athletes. Background screening through the USA Field Hockey system is also required for adult participants who work directly with minors. Sign up your coaches and administrators as affiliated with your new club
🛡️ Mandatory for All AdultsAdd athletes as members through affiliation - this is done by the member themselves. Each athlete must hold a current USA Field Hockey membership. Coaches should hold appropriate USA Field Hockey coaching credentials or be enrolled in a credentialing pathway — resources are available through the USA Field Hockey Coach Education program.
👥 Per SeasonNew clubs are entitled to a free website and Playbook sports management software. You can access this exclusive benefit through USA Field Hockey directly. Your Playbook site will be integrated with USA Field Hockey's membership management system, allowing you to know the status of all your athletes easily as they register for your club and events. Reach out to your state USA Field Hockey chapter (you're on their site right now!) to learn about local leagues, sanctioned tournaments, state championships, and chapter resources. Your chapter is your closest partner for day-to-day club support and here to help you. Other discounts are visible in our App In the Circle, which you can download from your app store.
📍 You're Already Here!With registration complete, your club can enter USA Field Hockey-sanctioned events, access insurance coverage, appear in the national club directory, and begin building your program. Annual renewals keep your club active each season.
